Machine Vision & IR for Industry Forum 2020 - The exciting next steps of machine vision and thermal imaging technologies

Date:September 11, 2020
Venue:5B Conference Room, Hall 5, SWECC

Organizer

CIOE           Yole Développement

Yole Développement is proud to collaborate once more with the China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE) to organize the Executive Forum on Industrial Machine Vision and Thermal Imaging. It will take place on September 11, 2020 in Shenzhen, alongside the 22nd CIOE and will include presentations focused on industrial applications. Machine vision continues to expand into new territories beyond factory automation, including farming, robotic cars, and intelligent transportation systems. Moreover, new exciting technologies are reaching maturity: 3D sensing, hyperspectral imaging, and event-based imaging. These new technologies will help machine vision to expand its application scope. On the other hand, the uncooled thermal camera business is flourishing, surpassing 1.5M units and $4B in revenue during 2019. Applications are numerous, including thermography, surveillance, Personal Vision Systems (PVS) and firefighting. Furthermore, due to the coronavirus outbreak in February, thermal cameras were very sought after, particularly in Chinese infrastructure including airports, stations, hospitals and buildings in order to monitor people’s temperatures and detect cases of fever. Finally, thermal cameras have proven their worth as redundant sensors in autonomous vehicles for people or goods transportation, with various players, such as GM Cruise, Veoneer and Nuro, integrating them in their vehicles and FLIR securing a strong position with its collaborations.

Yole Développement is proud to collaborate with the China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE) to organize an all-new Executive Forum on Optical Transceivers and Silicon Photonics. It will take place on September 9, 2020 in Shenzhen, alongside the 22nd CIOE. This event will explore optical transceiver applications within the optical communication industry. The optical transceiver is a unique device which significantly contributes to transporting data over a network, enabling the highest speeds. At first they were employed in long-haul applications, but now they play a big role in data center interconnections at all levels. Ultra-high-definition video streaming demand and new “connected” devices such as augmented and virtual reality, the internet of things and cars are driving another wave of transceiver upgrades in metro networks as well as in data centers. Will coronavirus have a significant impact on the plans of the industrial companies? Join us to discuss this and other issues!

After a successful second edition of the Executive Forum on LiDAR for Automotive, Yole Développement is proud to collaborate once again with the China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE) and to extend the scope to Imaging and LiDAR for automotive applications. It will take place on September 10, 2020 in Shenzhen, alongside the 22nd CIOE. This event will present applications and technologies within automotive vision. Imaging and LiDAR are key technologies enabling Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD). Although cameras have been integrated into cars for years, LiDAR is set to enter mass-production for ADAS/AD applications in the near future. Also, infrared imaging is proving powerful to detect people in various lighting conditions and is now part of the AD sensor suite. Finally, artificial intelligence and sensor fusion are the missing link between sensors that allow enhanced safety and autonomous driving anytime, anywhere.

Android-based mobile device manufacturers have added front depth sensors to their products, and are now striving to enable applications that additionally leverage rear-side-mounted depth sensors. So far, at least, these new applications are predominantly photography-related. In the near future, however, they’re expected to further expand into augmented reality, virtual reality and other applications, following in the footsteps of Google’s trendsetting Project Tango experiment of a few years ago. Yole Développement will describe the application roadmap, market value and cost of these highly anticipated mobile 3D sensing modules. With rumors suggesting that time-of-flight camera modules will also begin appearing on the rear sides of iPhones, we will see the impact on the business. The new iPhone should be released by Apple on the day of this Forum, so join us and participate to this event to get the latest information about this exciting industry!
