"The 21st century is the century of light." Guided by national science and technology development plans, the optics industry, as a key element in reshaping national innovation capacity and competitive strength, is entering a new stage of transformation, upgrading, and cross-sector integration. Currently, global technology is rapidly advancing toward intelligence and digitalization, with continuous iterations in frontier optical technology research. Super-resolution optical imaging technology continues to provide critical support for fields such as life sciences. Technologies like photonic integration and optical field manipulation are driving the industry’s evolution toward micro-nano scale, integration, and intelligence. Advances in new optical materials, high-precision processing, and simulation software are providing strong support for improving the performance and reducing the cost of precision optical components. In frontier applications, hardware for VR/AR (XR) smart wearable devices is maturing, with the industry's focus shifting to software, ecosystems, and deep AI integration. In the field of AI healthcare, AI is deeply transforming the medical and health sector, becoming a new technological and application focal point. In the smart vehicle sector, in-vehicle optical technologies, represented by Huawei’s AR-HUD, are redefining human-vehicle interaction and safety experiences through high brightness, large field of view, and deep integration with intelligent driving. Looking ahead, high transmittance, ultra-high definition, AI recognition, miniaturization and lightweight design, high integration, and imaging-sensing fusion remain core directions for optical development.
As terminal applications deeply penetrate frontier fields such as the metaverse, autonomous driving, and the low-altitude economy, modern optical technology is breaking through traditional physical limitations and material bottlenecks, accelerating its three-dimensional evolution toward micro-nano scale, photonic integration, and intelligent adaptation. Facing the explosive growth of emerging markets represented by AIoT terminals, AI infrastructure, quantum computing, lightweight AR/VR devices, and automotive LiDAR, optical products are undergoing disruptive innovation driven by three core technologies: metasurfaces, co-packaged optics (CPO), and computational imaging.
To address this transformation, the optics field is actively introducing and integrating advanced technologies from other disciplines, promoting the upgrade of products from mere "functional realization" to an integrated model of "intelligent perception – dynamic control – efficient interconnection." Concurrently, the increasing demands for optical imaging quality and practical application scenarios are creating a more urgent need for new solutions within the industry. Driven by both technological iteration and scenario expansion, application areas such as consumer electronics and high-end manufacturing are experiencing differentiated explosive growth trends.
Gain insights into optoelectronics trends, focusing on the integration of industry, academia, research, and application. To further integrate the optical industry chain and explore emerging optical technologies and applications, the "2026 Global Precision Optics Intelligent Manufacturing Forum" will be held concurrently with CIOE from September 9 to 11, 2026. The forum will closely follow market dynamics, using hot applications and key technologies in the optical field as dual-core driving forces. It will comprehensively analyze industry-wide hotspots across the entire chain, from computational optical imaging, semiconductor inspection, nanoimprint lithography, medical imaging technology, and optical coatings to testing solutions and terminal applications.
