Optical thin films—deposited dielectric or metallic layers that precisely control light—are increasingly vital, with applications now spanning from traditional optics and displays to consumer electronics, solar energy, medical diagnostics, sensors, and smart hardware. Driven by the needs of ever‑advancing smart devices, thin films are evolving toward higher performance, flexibility, and intelligence, becoming indispensable for miniaturizing AR/VR devices and foldable phones, while in laser systems researchers are pushing laser‑induced damage thresholds to new heights for high‑power infrared lasers. At the same time, domestic manufacturing is accelerating, with local companies progressing from reflective and diffusive films into higher‑value segments.
To promote collaborative innovation in design, fabrication, and application, the “Optical Vacuum Coating Conference” on September 10, 2026, will bring together leading enterprises, experts, and scholars across the optical thin‑film supply chain. In‑depth dialogue will focus on core topics including advanced thin‑film design and processes (such as atomic layer deposition), precision film metrology and control, novel coating equipment, and domestic substitution pathways for high‑end products, jointly advancing optical thin‑film technology toward higher quality and broader application.
