Driven by national policies and empowered by AI technologies, optical access–the last mile of digital economy infrastructure–is trending toward full optical penetration. As the evolution direction of next-generation optical networks, 10G PON has become a core component of new information infrastructure. Boosted by large model development, AI is accelerating service cloudification and computing convergence. Home, enterprise, and industrial scenarios urgently demand high-bandwidth, low-latency, and deterministic connectivity. Business broadband and campuses have become key deployment scenarios for 50G-PON, directly driving the rapid maturity and cost reduction of the 50G-PON industrial chain (optical modules, chips, equipment, etc.) and triggering a new wave of access network upgrades.

As a key enabler of 10G-class experience, FTTR is evolving toward intelligent service terminals, integrating multi-dimensional capabilities including connectivity, sensing, and interaction. This upgrades home services from “single connection” to “full-scenario smart services.” Meanwhile, deep AI empowerment across the entire optical access lifecycle is driving networks toward native intelligence, with the implementation of a communication-sensing-computing converged architecture to meet differentiated multi-scenario requirements. The industry still faces challenges: 50G-PON requires standard convergence and improved power-performance efficiency; FTTR suffers from inconsistent Wi-Fi management protocols; multi-generation technology coexistence complicates interworking; some terminals lag in productization and scale is constrained by cost; application demand is under-activated while industry adaptation remains difficult; and AI-integrated O&M systems need further improvement.

Against this backdrop, CIOE will invite telecom operators, optical access equipment and optical module vendors, together with the upstream and downstream ecosystem, to host the “10 Gigabit Optical Access:AI+ Intelligent Upgrade and Application Forum”. The forum will cover latest technology advances, AI-driven intelligent upgrades (AI O&M, optical sensing, self-intelligent networks), scenario expansion, and industry-academia-research-application collaboration for standard improvement, to accelerate the access network into the 10 Gigabit era.
